Taco Bell and Duolingo are teaming up for a Global Taco Day giveaway: 1,000 limited-edition plushies of Duo, Duolingo’s green owl mascot, dressed in a Taco Bell uniform and headset.
The collaboration marks National Taco Day, which the companies are calling Global Taco Day this year. Here’s how to enter and what else is part of the promotion.
How to Enter the Duo Plushie Giveaway
In the U.S., you must be a Taco Bell Rewards member for a chance to receive a plushie, according to a Taco Bell news release. Members can visit Taco Bell’s Tuesday Drops page Oct. 6 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET, while supplies last. The limit is one entry per person. Additional giveaways are planned in several international markets.
How Much the Plushie Is Worth
The plushie is free for selected winners and is valued at $30, according to the news release. There is no word yet on whether it will be available to buy later.
Winners will be notified by email around Oct. 9; they will not receive the plushie at the time of entry.
Other Global Taco Day Offers
Taco Bell is also introducing Duo Habanero sauce, a limited-edition spicy sauce inspired by the mascot. The sauce will be available at participating Taco Bell restaurants in the U.S., Canada, Australia, China, India, Spain and the United Kingdom while supplies last.
In the U.S., customers can get one packet free with the purchase of a Doritos Locos Taco. Additional packets cost 20 cents each.
The limited-edition packets will feature taco-themed sayings in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese. The sauce was created for the collaboration, and its packaging incorporates language lessons into Taco Bell’s traditional “sauce wisdoms.” The companies say the partnership plays on the word “taco,” which they say remains largely recognizable in more than 30 languages.
Taco Bell Rewards members can also receive one free month of Super Duolingo. The offer is available through Oct. 6 to members who are not current Duolingo subscribers. Codes must be redeemed by Nov. 15 and remain active for 30 days after activation.
Where Taco Bell Is Celebrating
Taco Bell and Duolingo are holding events in several cities. In New York City, Duo and friends will be at Taco Bell’s Midtown Cantina from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 6. The event will include tacos, Duo Habanero sauce, language lessons and giveaways. Additional events are planned in Mumbai, Toronto and Shanghai.
Taco Bell has expanded its National Taco Day promotions in recent years, launching the Taco Lover’s Pass in 2022, helping open up “Taco Tuesday” to restaurants nationwide in 2023 and moving National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October in 2024.
