Monopoly is back at McDonald’s.
The fan-favorite promotion returns to restaurants nationwide Tuesday, Oct. 6, with what the fast-food chain calls a “simplified experience and one-of-a-kind prize list.”
Players can peel game pieces, then scan them in the app to win food or loyalty points instantly or play for major prizes, including $1 million, a 2027 Jeep Cherokee or free McDonald’s for a year through a $1,040 gift card.
“This year, we’re going all in on the classic peel – what first made MONOPOLY at McDonald’s so iconic,” the company said in a news release. “With all the pieces in your hands, fans will now have just one way to peel, with all gameplay done in the app.”
The Monopoly promotion returned last year after a decade-long absence. Here’s what to know about playing.
How to Play McDonald’s Monopoly
Signing up and following the rules is straightforward:
- Register: Download the McDonald’s app, opt in to Rewards and preregister for the game.
- Order and peel: Starting Oct. 6, order eligible menu items and peel the game-piece sticker from the packaging.
- Scan: Scan the piece in the McDonald’s app to redeem prizes, properties or Chance Card game plays.
Players can also get a bonus Chance Card play in the app for each eligible item purchased through the app or by showing a Rewards code at the kiosk, counter or drive-thru through Nov. 1. Players must register before ordering to qualify, according to McDonald’s.
Which Menu Items Are Eligible?
Eligible items include:
Breakfast
- Hash Browns
- McMuffin sandwiches
- Biscuit sandwiches
Breakfast and all-day
- Large soft drinks, iced coffee, iced tea or specialty McCafé beverages
- Large hot McCafé beverages
Rest of day
- Large French fries
- 10-piece Chicken McNuggets
- Quarter Pounder with Cheese
- Big Mac
- 4-piece McCrispy Strips
What Can You Win?
Players can peel to reveal four types of prize opportunities, according to McDonald’s:
- Instant-win food: Free items such as a McChicken, Snack Wrap, McGriddles, shakes, smoothies and small fries.
- Instant-win loyalty points: From 1,500 to 7,000 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points.
- Collect to Win: Collect a winning combination of property pieces for prizes such as a Carnival Cruise vacation, a trip to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, a 2027 Jeep Cherokee or one of three Polaris vehicles.
- Chance Card: Play for gift cards from brands including Grubhub, Ulta Beauty and Uber Eats, as well as prizes such as $50,000 toward a home down payment, $50,000 toward college debt repayment and cash from $10,000 to $1 million.
