Taco Bell and Duolingo are teaming up for the chain’s annual National Taco Day celebration, calling this year’s Oct. 6 event “Global Taco Day.” The collaboration includes a limited-edition sauce, a language-learning offer and collectible plushies.

Where Can You Get the New Sauce?

Taco Bell will introduce Duo Habanero Sauce, a limited-edition sauce inspired by Duolingo’s owl mascot. It will be available at participating Taco Bell restaurants in the U.S., Canada, Australia, China, India, Spain and the United Kingdom while supplies last.

In the U.S., customers can get one free packet with the purchase of a Doritos Locos Taco. Additional packets will cost 20 cents each. Taco Bell describes the sauce as bright and tangy, with fruity notes and habanero heat that builds with each bite.

What’s on the Sauce Packets?

The limited-edition packets feature taco-themed sayings in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese. The companies say the collaboration is built around the word “taco,” which they say remains largely recognizable across more than 30 languages.

How Can Rewards Members Get Free Duolingo?

Taco Bell Rewards members who are not current Duolingo subscribers can receive one free month of Super Duolingo through Oct. 6. Codes must be redeemed by Nov. 15 and remain active for 30 days after activation.

The companies are also giving away 1,000 limited-edition Duo plushies. In the U.S., Rewards members can visit Taco Bell’s Tuesday Drops page at 2 p.m. PT Oct. 6 for a chance to claim one, while supplies last.

Where Are the Global Taco Day Events?

In New York City, an event at Taco Bell’s Midtown Cantina is scheduled for 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET Oct. 6, with tacos, sauce, language lessons and giveaways. Additional events are planned in Mumbai, India; Toronto, Canada; and Shanghai, China.

Taco Bell has expanded its National Taco Day promotions in recent years, launching the Taco Lover’s Pass in 2022, helping open up “Taco Tuesday” to restaurants nationwide in 2023 and moving National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October in 2024.
